Seem every day there is some positive press about The Rockaways. Here is an opinion piece that appeared in the NY Post. This article talks about the misuse of real estate for lower income families in an area that is not ideal for them.

There are some amazing high-end developments in The Rockaways like Ocean Grand, The Seavon, The Beach House and Belle Shores. Rockaway residents awoke Monday, May 12 to what seemed like a DREAM. But it wasn't. Rockaway residents now can take the ferry to work and be in downtown in under an hour. The Rockaway Ferry's maiden voyage was a success and we are looking forward to more robust schedule soon (only 4 ferry trips a day as of May 12). Seen, commuters will also have the option of wireless Internet access on the ferry. WOW!!!

Eye Eight-Story Buildings For Beach 116th - The Department of City Planning has proposed a "comprehensive zoning strategy" for the Rockaways that could bring eight-story buildings to the Beach 116 Street shopping area and portions of Rockaway Beach Boulevard, as well as larger homes for the Orthodox in Far Rockaway, and some protection for the remaining bungalow stock throughout the peninsula.
